An underground water tank helps in preventing a home or business against the danger of bush fire. It is a long process but with the right plan and construction process it can help speed up the actual construction of the tank.
Planning stage
The whole project can be planned before hand to avoid any problems during the actual construction. There are various things to be kept in mind before the actual building of the tank:
• Where is the tank going to be built?
• Is the area safe for building the tank?
• What is the purpose of building the tank and is the appropriate permission taken?
• There must be enough space in the surrounding areas for the machinery to operate
Place of building the tank:
Planning the place of constructing the plan will require extensive planning. A hole can’t be dug up in the middle of the ground and be considered as the tank. The underground area has to be checked for underground pipes and cables and permission has to be taken before construction.
Permission for construction:
There are various permits and permissions that have to be taken from the council. All permits have to be applied for and accepted before any instillations can be started.
How big does the tank need to be:
There are various different types and sizes of tanks that can be built which range from domestic water tanks to larger ones.
A small sized tank takes up less space to install and the cost of building them is lesser and might not need as much manpower as larger ones. The larger tanks however, don’t need to be replaced in the long run.
Space around the unit:
The space around the tank must include 2.5 meters around the perimeter which gives space to the machines to operate.
Installing the tank:
It is important to have a professional at hand to solve any technical issues that can affect the project. A geotechnical specialist has skills and expertise to overcome any site instillation issues. Other important factors are renting a cane, purchasing a pump system and ordering washed sand for the base.
Using and checking the tank:
Once the tank is installed it is important to let it settle into place before using it. Building on top of the ground of the tank can also be done once the tank has settled. Any problems which might be present will surface within a few days of using the tank and can be resolved accordingly.
